MICF Review: Joel Creasey: Poser (Performances until April 23rd)

I am no stranger to the man that is Joel Creasey and with a career as successful as his, you’re a downright nuffy if you haven’t heard of him! I saw his show at last year’s MICF and looooved it, but there is something about this year’s that is a whole other level. Yes, Creasey will bring plenty of LOLs and have you cry-laughing every second, but what you’ll come to learn of him is his softer side and the heartfelt adoration for two very special women in his life (apart from his mum) – Joan Rivers and Carrie Fisher. The stories he shares about these two are incredible and you just wouldn’t believe them coming from anyone else.

Sadly, both of these women died last year in what was the year of horrible deaths. Creasey was in fact in New York opening for Rivers’ show, so he spent plenty of time with her. The night before Rivers went into a coma, it was Creasey’s birthday and what he shares about that night is nothing short of serendipitous; a birthday he’ll never forget. It’s moments like these in your life that make you realise timing is everything. While Creasey has led a very blessed and fortunate life, there’s no denying he is a man true to his word and respectful to those he calls his heroes.

You may not know this but Creasey wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for his parents meeting and falling in love on the set of Star Wars. Cue Carrie Fisher stories. I’m telling you, if ever there was a celebrity that you just didn’t know what to expect with, Carrie Fisher is it. What he shares about her is outrageous but also the juiciest piece of Hollywood gossip tabloids don’t even know! Utter hilarity.

Poser is a show that will have you in fits of laughter; there is nothing off limits, no topic too taboo, no coming out story too trivial. But, when it comes to ol’ mate Donald Trump you better believe Joel Creasey has one cracker of a story! Trump is obviously one of 2017’s hottest topics, but when you’re a feminist like Creasey, and you rock up to a dinner party hosted by your neighbours to find out that they’re not only American, but also Trump supporters, you can only imagine how the night unfolded. I seriously wish I was a fly on the wall at that dinner party. #JustSayin

Creasey was recently announced alongside Myf Warhurst as the new hosts of SBS’ Eurovision Song Contest coverageWhat a spectacular choice! I actually cannot wait to see what they do. I live for this man! I truly cannot get enough of him! What you see is what you get with Creasey; he’s never pretended to be someone he’s not and he’s embraced his lavish lifestyle and wants you to share in it in someway. I’d really like to hit the d-floor with this guy; I think we’d set it on fiyah and work up a sweat and a half! Joel, if you read this… let me know when you’re free!

Joel Creasey’s Poser is on until April 23 with a newly added show on Saturday April 22. For tickets and more information, head here.
