Following its acclaimed season at the Sydney Opera House’s Joan Sutherland Theatre, Julie Andrew‘s production of My Fair Lady has returned to Sydney for an encore run, this time at the Capitol Theatre. This is where our photographer Nathan Atkins joined the cast yesterday afternoon, capturing all the glamour and theatricality of this acclaimed production, ahead of their opening night.
This beloved musical tells the tale of a Cockney flower girl named Eliza Doolittle whose world was forever changed by the brilliant and demanding phoneticist, Professor Henry Higgins. The clash of cultures sparks some of theatre’s most witty dialogue and wonderful songs.
Filling the Australian production is a company filled with acclaimed performers from stage and television. Charles Edwards plays Professor Higgins and the Helpmann Award winning Anna O’Byrne shines as Eliza Doolittle. Joining them is an outstanding cast, Reg Livermore plays the role of Alfred P. Doolittle. Robyn Nevin (who also won a Helpmann Award for this role) plays Mrs. Higgins and Joel Parnis plays Freddy Eynsford-Hill. Have a look at the cast in action here:
My Fair Lady is enjoying performances at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre until October, with tickets starting from $59.90. For tickets and more details, head HERE.
