Townsville’s Dancenorth to bring IF_WAS_ to the Judy later this month

Hosted by the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Arts, in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, choreographers Stephanie Lake and Ross McCormack will present an intensely personal double-bill, in a brief run of shows from June 23rd to 25th.

Deriving their work from a challenge set by Dancenorth artistic director Kevin Page, Lake and McCormack were asked to to select sound from the one sound score, create costumes from one pattern, utilise lighting from one design and work to a set duration.

Page describes the event as “a big dance experiment.” He says, “We set a clear framework for Stephanie and Ross and literally invited each of them to fill in the blanks. They will each generate something profoundly different in response to these challenges.”

Fall down this mysterious rabbit hole from Thursday June 23rd until Saturday June 25th, at the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Arts, Brisbane.
Tickets available through the Judy website.
