A decade since her last stage musical, Tina Arena will take on the role of Eva Peron in Evita at the Sydney Opera House in September next year. The much loved Australian star will join legendary Director Hal Prince, winner of 21 Tony Awards, in re-creating the original West End and Broadway production created by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
With a music career spanning over 40 years, Tina is no stranger to the stage. She previously wowed critics on the West End as Roxie Hart in Chicago and has appeared in Cabaret, Nine, Dynamite and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Evita charts the story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, from the humble beginnings through to the extraordinary wealth, power and status which ultimately led her to being heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation.’
Featuring some of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most popular songs including, ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,’ ‘On This Night of a Thousand Stars,’ and, ‘You Must Love Me,’ the musical has captured the attention of the public since it first staged in 1978. Now in its 40th year, Opera Australia and John Frost are thrilled to be bringing this modern day classic to Australia in all its original glory.
