Sydney’s Festival of Dangerous Ideas to stream events across Australia

On September 3rd, two of the Festival of Dangerous Ideas‘ most anticipated sessions will be streamed lived from the Sydney Opera House to sixteen locations across Australia.

Lionel Shriver, author of best-seller We Need To Talk About Kevin, will head up the first session Break A Rule A Day, while journalists Annabel Crab and David Marr take on federal politics in The Government We Deserve?.

Satellite audiences will also have the chance to engage directly with speakers at other festival events. Audiences from James Cook University Townsville and Western Plains Cultural Centre will be able to join a Sydney Opera House Q&A with renowned British philosopher A.C. Grayling via two-way video conferencing, while other viewers will be able to text in their questions.

Sydney Opera House Head of International Development and co-curator of FODI Danielle Harvey said the initiatives were about ensuring that as many people as possible were able join the conversation: “By sharing incredible talks with 16 arts centres and venues across the country – up from seven last year – we’re extending the reach of the Festival of Dangerous Ideas to spark a nation-wide conversation about the issues that really matter today. Our Satellite events have grown exponentially over the past few years, becoming a crucial part of the festival as a whole.”

In all, 16 venues across regional and suburban Australia will be getting involved with the September 3rd broadcast, from Canberra to Alice Springs to Dubbo, all organising their own FODI events around the live streams.
Please see the festival website for details of all locations.
