Look Mum… No Hands!!! to be presented at Brisbane Powerhouse this weekend

Opening today at Brisbane Powerhouse, Look Mum… No Hands!!! is the first production from ensemble Indel-ABILITY Arts, a group comprised of artists who identify as having a disability.

Set in the fictional Legless Bar on open mic night, performers share accounts of their struggles to find opportunity and succeed in an industry that places so much emphasis on the idea of perfection. Comic drama combines with home truths, in a night dedicated to the reality of living and working with a disability.

Indel-ABILITY Arts, the brainchild of Rebecca Roberts and Catarina Hebbard, started in Brisbane in 2015, with the goal of providing more professional opportunities for performers with disabilities. The current ensemble cast consists of Michel Labosse, Madeleine Little, Karen Lee Roberts, and David Waldie.

Look Mum… No Hands!!! is their first major production and is supported by Brisbane City Council’s Community Development and Capacity Building Grants.

The show’s previous date, at Redlands Performing Arts Centre, completely sold out, with extra seats being added on the night – a success that already looks set to be continued with their run at Brisbane Powerhouse, from 7th – 10th September. For tickets, see the Brisbane Powerhouse website.

For more information about the company, please see the Indel-ABILITY Arts Facebook or website.
