Hotel guests asked to disrobe in the name of art and self liberation

From the 1st May until the 15th June, the Art Series Hotel Group are inviting guests to sleepover, strike a pose and find themselves the subject of a life drawn masterpiece. This is all part of the hotel group’s ‘No Robe Package’ which asks guests to reveal the “real” them for a group of artists to capture the image in art form, forever and for keeps.

You need only look at some of the great masterpieces of history to know that the human body has been a great source of inspiration for artists everywhere. The “No Robe Package” also forms part of a growing movement of people once again celebrating the human body in all its glory, with recent events like the Dark Mofo nude swim and the NSW Gallery’s nude exhibition proving popular.

So how does it work? Well those taking part get one nights accomodation in any suite at each of the Art Series hotels across Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Bendigo. Guests will then be able to choose a time to have a camera delivered to their room by Art Series staff. They will then have a set period of time to take a photo with the camera before it is removed. The photos are then sent by encrypted link to the artists, who will then line draw the subject remotely from their studios. The photo will then be deleted permanently and will not be distributed elsewhere. Finally guests will then have their piece of art delivered to them in a beautiful package.

Will Deague, CEO of Art Series Hotels, said: “Art Series Hotels are passionate about supporting the arts and delivering unique art inspired experiences for our guests and welcoming them with their creativity. The No Robe campaign certainly goes back to the history of the nude form in art and self-expression.” Adding, “we want to encourage our guests to dare to be different and bold – to celebrate their individuality and feel liberated in their own skin. Its about stripping away hang-ups and be free – nude or not!”

Those guests preferring not to pose for a life drawing can still get involved by sharing a photo, best encapsulating “being free” within the hotel, on Instagram using the #norobe. Those sharing photos will be in with a chance of winning a night on Art Series.

The ‘No Robe Package’ is available to book now, starting at $299. For more information and for a list of participating hotels visit the Art Series website.
