In their largest program yet, Melbourne is once again hosting their annual Open House Weekend this coming July, inviting the public to tour and explore various buildings in and around Melbourne City.
A total of 224 buildings will open their doors to the public on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 of July, allowing the public to see a rare glimpse into the architecture and design of these structures. There have been over 80 new buildings added to the line-up this Audience members can choose to take a guided tour, or attend a screening, talk or exhibition, the likes of which are running all throughout July.
This year’s Open House will see the ‘tallest building to roof in the Southern Hemisphere’ join the line-up. The Australia 108, designed by one of Melbourne’s most renowned architects Fender Katsalidis, will be open for a guided-tour by the architect himself as the building is still under construction. Additionally, Melbourne will set to be treated to guided tours of Bunji Place- South-East Melbourne’s newest cultural and entertainment precinct, as well as The Learning and Teaching Building in Monash Clayton, a multi-faculty learning facility housing over 60 innovative learning and teaching spaces designed to meet the modern student’s everyday needs.
Open House Melbourne Weekend will occur this July on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th. The weekend will be run by Open House Melbourne, an independent organisation that fosters public appreciation of architecture and public engagement for the future of cities. For more information, click here.
