2016 Barry Award Nominees to marry on Friday 15th April

Melbourne will be playing host to a celebrity wedding on Friday night. But this isn’t quite the stuff that celebrity gossip mags are made on.

This wedding is a protest wedding!

Comedian’s Zoe Coombs Marr and Rhys Nicholson will get married on Friday at the Festival Club in a wedding ceremony designed to highlight the marriage inequality issue. Neither comedian is able to marry their own same sex partners due to the current lack of legislation.

The recent Barry Award nominees have invited some special comedian friends to sing them down the couple down the aisle and join them as their flower girls. The exact details of the bridal party are being kept under wraps.

Other than being a political protest, that is sure to raise the hackles of the “sanctity of marriage police”, the wedding will also be raising money for Minus18; Australia’s national LGTBI youth advocacy program.

And naturally the evening will be jam packed with comedy performances throughout the ceremony.

So get dressed in your finest and head down to the Festival Club at Max Watts on Friday for a the celebrity-protest-wedding event of the year.

Tickets are $25 on the door and doors are 11:15pm for a 11:30pm start.
