IL SIGNOR BRUSCHINO

Il Signor Bruschino

A operatic farce of dual identity where a two lovers attempt to deceive their elders in order to marry each other, but there are more twists to make things really interesting not only between the two lovers, but within their families as well. The production is put on by Lyric Opera.

Direct from the esteemed Dublin Dance Festival and Riverside Theatres Sydney, Brisbane Powerhouse will present a new contemporary dance work produced by Liz Roche Company, Time Over Distance Over Time, for one night only on 28 June.

In the performance, performers will wrestle with the both the physical and emotional distances they encounter while living at opposite ends of the planet.

Mathieu Briand – The Spiral

Mathieu’s installations and performances are confronting, situated somewhere between perceptive reality and a displacement of the imagination. He uses different mediums to destabilise and manipulate viewers into new zones of space and time. This particular piece, The Spiral, consists of five turntables playing samples on an endless loop which you can manipulate yourself in Carriageworks.

Spice up your winter with a little bit of seduction on stage! WAAPA’s 3rd Year Acting students will perform Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a sharply drawn tale of sexual power and desire that Cruel Intentions was based upon.

It’s Our Thing: Picasso, Warhol and Hip-Hop

It’s Our Thing revisits the emergence of hip-hop in the western suburb of Sydney Blacktown during the 1990s, when university students gave the popular music genre an Australian accent that stuck, and examines how hip-hop culture influenced the work of two leading contemporary artists, Khaled Sabsabi and Minky Rawat. Picasso and Warhol influenced influenced these artists and art works from the two will be on display here too.
