7 Arts Events Not to Miss in Australia for the rest of this Month (July 2016)

Once again it is time to go through a whole bunch of fascinating shows, exhibitions and other arty stuff around the country for the month of July. Here are our picks:

Mozart’s opera about testing fidelity is an intriguing story to music of impossible beauty. Two men disguise themselves as Albanians and attempt to seduce each other’s lover in an elaborate ruse to win a bet. Absurd? Yes, but Mozart’s luminous music takes the ridiculous and makes it sublime.

SI001Simple Infinity

Carriageworks will present the premiere of a new contemporary Australian theatre work titled Simple Infinity, created by Urban Theatre Projects and developed in partnership with artists who identify as operating differently in the world. Presented at Carriageworks from 13 until 16 July 2016, this unique piece interweaves performance, dance and new contemporary classical music, in a celebration of the individual – illuminating the vulnerability and fragility of our personal and intimate connections with each other.

This is Peter Rugg’s first full-length cabaret, or as he likes to say: cabagay. When thinking about his experience of growing up gay, he realised just how awful, messy, and amazing it was. With the advent of Grindr, finding your identity as a young gay man has changed dramatically.
