Book Review: Rebecca Jackson’s You’re Not Alone is like a warm hug & a good starting point for those wanting to change their thinking

It’s fair to say that most people, at some point in their lives, will experience a dark period, a crisis or just an overwhelming desire to know more. The book, You’re Not Alone: A Practical Guide For The Awakening Soul by Rebecca Jackson is designed to help at these very points. There are some readers that may disregard the contents of this volume as hippie or new age stuff, but for those readers that approach it without judgement there are some handy things that can be found here, as well as some stuff they may already know about.

This self-help book is the first one to be written by this empowerment coach, mentor and inspirational speaker. Jackson has spent 25 years drawing together different experiences, lessons and ideas. Here she shares some of her own anecdotes and insights as well as some simple energy or vibration boosting tools. The latter can be found at the end of each chapter and include practical ideas like: having mindful moments, trying new things, connecting with nature and writing your own self-forgiveness letter.

This book also contains a lot of information about crystal therapy, spirit guides and essential oils. These things may not be for everyone but for those that do want to know more there is lots of information here, all written in prose that is easy to follow and understand. In the case of the oils there is a brief introduction to each of these as well as its suggested uses, other complementary essential oils and some safety information. This guide also contains lots of positive affirmations and quotes from famous people as well as additional resources for those inquisitive individuals who want to know more.

A book like You’re Not Alone may not offer the most ground-breaking information but there are readers who will find it as beneficial and comforting as say, a warm hug, or a book like Chicken Soup For the Soul. This volume is obviously a labour of love for Jackson who is committed to helping and nurturing people who have become unhappy and disconnected with the world, and enabling them to reconnect with their true selves. You’re Not Alone contains enough information to make it a good starting point for those wanting to change their approach to life and ultimately embrace their own inner joy. Beautiful.
