The 2016 Adelaide Cabaret Festival opens with a bang with annual gala

The Adelaide Cabaret Festival is officially GO, after a packed out Adelaide Festival Theatre enjoyed a night of entertainment at the festival’s annual gala performance overnight. The show gave the audience just a taste of what’s to come over the next few weeks of shows, with various local Australian and international artists treading the stage while the festival’s co-Directors Ali McGregor and Eddie Perfect weaved their way throughout.

The theme of this year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival is ‘What Comes Next…’ and the acts on display represented the well-respected legends of the genre while also looking forward to some of the new players in the game. Robyn Archer received the Cabaret Icon Award, while the likes of Bobby FoxFrank Woodley and Tripod all brought warm and enthusiastic reaction from the crowd.

Barb JungrRhonda Burchmore and Trevor Ashley, this year’s Class of Cabaret performers and more all impressed over the course of the night and really reinforced the high calibre of artists lined up for the rest of the program.

The Adelaide Cabaret Festival continues to run through until June 25th. For more information and tickets, head HERE.
